PIERCING AFTERCARE
Now you have been pierced it’s very important you follow the instructions given below.
  • Hands are always covered in bacteria; do not touch your new piercing with your hands until you have washed them with antibacterial soap.
  • All piercings weep until fully healed, this is normal and should not be confused with an infection.
The weeping causes a dry crust which must be soaked off before you
    commence with your cleaning procedure.
  • Infections are rare but if you do think you have a problem please consult us immediately at the studio or by phone.

EYE BROW, NOSTRIL, EAR

  • Clean the piercing and jewellery 2 – 3 times a day with Benzalkonium chloride. This should be applied with a clean cotton bud, and dried thoroughly with a cotton bud afterwards.
  • Piercing may also be bathed in cooled pre-boiled salt water solution this can help heal the piercing quickly.

NAVEL, NIPPLE, SURFACE

  • Clean at least 2 – 3 times a day, firstly soak any crust formation when in the bath or shower (avoid bubble bath for the first 3 days) but clean with antibacterial spray.
  • Do not wear tight clothing on the pierced area as this can aggravate and prolong the healing process.
  • Bathe the piercing in cooled pre-boiled salt water solution as often as possible, three times a day at least, as this will help heal the piercing quickly and reducing the chance of Infection,
  • PURE TEA TREE OIL IN PURE GRAPE SEED OIL (available at our piercing studio) may then be applied with a cotton bud.
  • Swimming should be avoided for seven days after your piercing.

TONGUE, LIP AND CHEEK

  • There is always an amount of swelling after these piercings, ice will contain the swelling, but it is to be expected.
  • Rinse with one part of antibacterial mouth wash, two parts water after every meal, drink or cigarette.
  • Your tongue also contains peptide which is a natural healing agent which will accelerate the healing; gargling with cooled pre-boiled salt water solution will also assist the healing process.
  • Avoid food items such as crisps, nuts or anything small that may get trapped in the piercing. These food items can cause swelling and infections.
  • You may need to take Ibuprofen in the first week. This is ok, but follow the instructions provided.
  • After the first week you will need to return to us for a shorter bar to be fitted.
  • Try not to bite the bar or click the back of your teeth with it as this can damage your teeth.
  • Remember to also keep the exterior of the lip piercing clean 2-3 Times a day with a Clean Cotton Wool Bud  and Diluted TCP or Dettol in Cool, Pre-Boiled Water.
  • Avoid oral sex until the piercing has completely healed or use a condom.
  • Smoking can inhibit the healing process of your new piercing. We recommend you do not smoke at all until the healing process is complete.
